Contraband

Contraband is a hard rock supergroup formed in 1991, with an active status continuing to the present. The group brings together Richard Black of Shark Island on vocals, Tracii Guns, Michael Schenker, Share Pedersen and Bobby Blotzer. Spencer Sercombe of Shark Island also contributes guitar.

Line-up and background

The band includes musicians associated with several established rock acts: Black comes from Shark Island; Guns is known for L.A. Guns and Guns N' Roses; Schenker has links to MSG, UFO and the Scorpions; Pedersen plays bass; and Blotzer is the drummer from Ratt. Contraband is described as a 1990s hard rock supergroup built around these players.

Recordings

Contraband releases one album of hard rock. The single “All The Way From Memphis” receives limited airplay, and the project does not match the commercial success of the members’ other bands. After the release, most of the musicians return to their previous groups. Richard Black later appears with Jake E. Lee in Bourgeois Pigs.
