Consequence is the stage name of Dexter Raymond Mills, Jr., a hip hop artist from Queens, New York, born in 1977. He is associated with A Tribe Called Quest and Kanye West, and is identified as a US rapper with a G.O.O.D. Music affiliation.

Career

Consequence makes his first appearance as a rapper on A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders and later appears on several of the group’s releases, helped by his family connection to Q-Tip, who is a member of the group. After A Tribe Called Quest disbands in 1998, he continues independently and gains wider attention when his mixtape Take ’Em To The Cleaners reaches Kanye West, leading to a guest appearance on West’s debut album The College Dropout on the track “Spaceship”. He also features on “Gone” from West’s second album Late Registration, and appears on recordings by Common, Beyoncé, and label associates Really Doe and GLC.

Albums

In 2007, Consequence releases his debut album Don’t Quit Your Day Job!. His second album, ConsTV, is planned for release in 2010.
