Conrad

Conrad is a black metal group from Bridgetown, Barbados. The band is active from 2009 and consists of Emdeka Anubis, Fornost and Lord Ifrit.

Formation and early releases

The group forms in 2009 and releases two demos. Its first material focuses on empathy and dark fantasy themes. The second demo, Oseaan Kroniek, develops imagery drawn from the Caribbean Sea and tells stories involving Neptune, Olokun and Stede Bonnet.

Themes and style

Conrad’s music draws on pagan Caribbean roots and uses references to Orishas and Afro-Pandemonium. The band’s sound and subject matter are described as dark, ritualistic and rooted in Bajan metal.
