Confess

Confess is a hard rock band that forms in Stockholm, Sweden, with origins also given in Tehran, Iran. The band is formed in late 2008 by lead singer John Elliot, with Samael joining soon after as drummer. It begins writing original material straight away and plays a run of club shows early on.

Early releases and line-up changes

The band releases a demo in 2009, which receives a strong response. Denver then joins on guitar, and the group starts work on its debut album, Lights out. During recording in early 2010, Confess signs to the American label Sliptrick Records. Another guitarist, Blomman, also known as The Flower Boy, later joins the band.

Albums and touring

In the early summer of 2011, Confess tours Latvia on a showcase run with Thyreos and Scarlet Violet, both described as label friends. In the autumn of 2011 the band records its second album, The Gin Act, at Soundfraction Studios. Johan Lund produces and mixes the record, with Eddie Siojo credited as co-producer. After the recording of The Gin Act, Mr. Lucky joins on bass.

Style and formats

Confess is described in different ways across its profile, including hard rock, groove metal, nu metal, N.W.O.A.H.M., thrash metal, glam metal and sleaze rock. One cassette release in 2013 is noted as containing monotone guitar hum and distant vocals, and is issued by Fallow Field.
