Compass

Compass is a name used by more than one musical act. One version is the Acid Jazz Records-associated project by Daniel Paul Hoffmann and Jens Augustowsky, also linked with the aliases Cab Drivers, Karo and Virus One, and with the variations Compass, Compass 3 and Compass 4. Another is a Seoul-based producer group made up of Jongmin Choi, Inchul Cho and Jinhwa Jeong. A further artist using the name is dancehall deejay Rahieme Copeland from St Thomas, Jamaica.

Electronic and club music project

The electronic Compass project is linked with Daniel Paul Hoffmann and Jens Augustowsky and appears in connection with Acid Jazz Records, as well as Cabinet Records and Plus 8. The act is also associated with the names Cab Drivers, Karo and Virus One, and with the Compass 3 and Compass 4 variations.

Seoul-based producer group

The Seoul-based Compass is a producer group of three musicians: Jongmin Choi, Inchul Cho and Jinhwa Jeong. The group describes its approach as completing music through the most effective interaction between three people. In 2014 it releases the EPs PASSPORT and SAILING MANUAL, and it works across exhibition, film and advertising. In July 2015 it releases its first full-length album, EXPO, which includes teaser videos for each track made in collaboration with 11 artists and teams around the themes of labour and freedom, technological display, capital and new spaces in Seoul.

Dancehall artist

The dancehall artist Compass is Rahieme Copeland. He hails from St Thomas and appears as a contestant in season 10 of The Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall in 2017. He later draws comparisons with dancehall artists Rytikal and Skillibeng after a freestyle performance on TikTok circulates widely.
