Common Culture

Common Culture are a fiddle-driven alternative folk band from New Zealand. Formed by Dan Watson on vocals and guitar and Lizzie Watson on fiddle and vocals, the group develops from an acoustic duo into a four-piece with Chris Reed on drums and Evie Smith on bass and vocals.

Their music combines traditional and contemporary folk influences with three-part harmonies, creating an energetic sound built around catchy hooks, rhythmic arrangements and a strong emphasis on live momentum. The band’s songs focus on themes of empowerment and motivation, alongside poignant storytelling and upbeat, anthem-like choruses.

Common Culture’s sound takes inspiration from acts such as The Levellers, Frank Turner and The Wonderstuff.
