Combichrist

Combichrist is a Norwegian dark electro and aggressive techno group formed in 2003 and based in the United States, with origins in Norway and Atlanta. The project begins with Andy LaPlegua of Icon of Coil, who writes a set of power noise and techno crossover tracks under the name D.R.I.V.E. before changing the name to Combichrist for the planned release of the debut album The Joy of Gunz on Out Of Line. The name comes from a hardcore fanzine LaPlegua makes in the late 1990s with JR Ewing guitarist Håkon Mella.

Style and live activity

The group works in aggrotech, EBM, electro-industrial, industrial and industrial metal. Early EPs and demand for concerts establish the band as a live act, and it becomes known for energetic performances. The live roster includes Joe Letz, with past and present live members including Mr Petersen, Z_Marr, Kourtney Klein, Trevor Friedrich, Håkon Mella, Bjoern Petersen, Syn M, Shaun Frandsen and Jon H.

Releases and collaborations

Combichrist's second EP, Sex, Drogen und Industrial, spends seven weeks at number one in the DAC charts. The third album, What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People?, follows in 2007. Today We Are All Demons appears in 2009, and Making Monsters is released in 2010, with its tracks made available online in sequence. No Redemption follows in 2013 in single-disc and 2CD versions and serves as the official soundtrack for Devil May Cry; the bonus disc functions as a greatest hits collection. The band later issues We Love You.

Tours and notable support slots

Combichrist supports Rammstein on their 2009 European tour and continues during the 2010 leg. For the tour behind Making Monsters, the support acts are Aesthetic Perfection and iVardensphere. The planned North American tour for We Love You includes William Control and New Years Day as support.
