Colm Mac Con Iomaire

Colm Mac Con Iomaire is an Irish musician from Cúileann na Páirce in Blackrock, County Dublin. He plays violin, keyboard and vocals, and is a member of The Frames, with whom he is involved from 1990. He is also a founder member of the Irish folk group Kíla, which he helps establish in 1987 while at school at Coláiste Eoin, an Irish-language secondary school in County Dublin.

Work with The Frames and Irish-language releases

Mac Con Iomaire’s interest in the Irish language leads to involvement in two Irish-language albums for charity Concern as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. These include an Irish-language version of The Frames’ Burn the Maps track “Locusts”, retitled “Lócáistí”, on the SnG05 album in 2005, and “Ciúnas” on Ceol 06 in 2006. He also records a version of Britney Spears’ “Everytime” with Glen Hansard for the Today FM compilation Even Better Than the Real Thing Volume 2.

Solo work

His first solo album, The Hare’s Corner (Cúinne an Ghiorria), is released in 2008.
