Cold Night for Alligators
Cold Night for Alligators is a Danish metal group from Roskilde, active since 2008. The band plays a form of deathcore, experimental, mathcore and progressive metal, and it is associated with math metal and djent. Its line-up includes Kristoffer Jessen.
Style and influences
The group’s music is technical and progressive, with a sound that draws on a wide range of influences. Its stated references include Between the Buried and Me, Meshuggah and The Faceless. The band also incorporates elements linked to electronic music, dubstep and jazz alongside metal.
The result is a chaotic, highly rhythmic style built around complex drum patterns and unusual grooves. The group presents itself as aiming for a different kind of listening experience rather than a conventional metal sound.
Release history
The EP Ulterior Motives comes out of months of work in the studio. It is mixed and mastered by Jeppe Anderson at Hansen Studios, and it is made available as a free download.
Background
The band describes itself as four regular young musicians with different musical backgrounds. That diversity shapes its sound and helps place it within the Danish metal underground scene.
