Codex

Codex is the alias of Amos Sharon, a producer and DJ from Belgrade, Serbia. He starts making music with trackers in 1995 and begins producing in 1998. His work is heavily based around drum and bass, and it also spans breakbeat and techno.

Early development and releases

In late 1998, Phase meets Toxic and the CODEX project is formed. He goes on to build up a large body of online releases, with material appearing on labels including Corrosion, Kosmoplovci, D3 and Trigger. His first album, Elektrodemia, comes out on CD in 2004 on the Beograund label.

Other projects and collaborations

After Elektrodemia, Codex forms Kernel, a commercial drum and bass project with Seven and Wikluhsky MCs. He also signs the track “Incubation” to Soundkraft. In mid-2005, he signs “Conform”, a collaboration with Mayhem, for Full Force Recordings, and in 2006 he signs “Ring” for Sinuous Records.

DJ work and events

Codex begins DJing in late 1999 and plays more than 600 gigs in Belgrade. His set list of performers includes Dieselboy, TeeBee, Squier, Ed Rush, Optical, Ryme Tyme, Pendulum, Noisia, Impulse, Mayhem, Grooverider, D-Bridge BC, Vegas BC, Maldini BC, Fresh BC, Kemal, Black Sun Empire, Krust, LTJ Bukem, Makoto, Marky, J Majik, Chris Su, Mindscape, Epsilon, Danny Wheeler, Reference, JFB, Specialist, Maximus, Shroombab and Sounds Of Infinity, among others.

CODEX PRESENTS

He also starts the CODEX PRESENTS series, which includes 15 events and gives DJs and producers from across ex-Yugoslavia a chance to present their work in Belgrade’s main drum and bass club.

Style

His listed styles include EBM, electro, techno, pop and deathcore, alongside his main drum and bass output.
