Close to you is a Dutch girl group formed in 1996 by producers Eeg van Kruysdijk and Ed van Otterdijk, who assemble the line-up through auditions. The original members are Natascha Scheffers, Sascha Koninkx, Nadja Nooijen, Sally Flissinger and Marsha van de Berg.
Career
The group scores its first hit in August 1996 with “Nice & nasty”. It quickly becomes associated with the Dutch pop market and is often seen as a local counterpart to the Spice Girls. Its biggest hit follows at the end of 1997 with “Baby don't go”.
In the summer of 1998, Sascha leaves the group, officially because of health problems, and Close II You continues as a quartet. The act still performs locally, but it does not repeat its earlier chart success. In May 2000, Marsha leaves and Sascha returns. About four months later, Sally leaves as well, and no replacement is found.
The group ends in 2001. Natascha, Sascha and Nadja then continue as Girls Together Outrageously, or GTO. Their only single, “I'll be around”, does not succeed, and the project ends in 2003. In September 2009, Natascha, Sascha, Marsha and Sally reunite for a one-off performance as Close II You.
