Clinton Fearon is a reggae musician from Saint Andrew, Jamaica, born in 1951. He is best known as a former bass player for The Gladiators and later works as a solo artist.

He is also known by the nickname “Basie”. As a youth, he goes to Kingston and becomes a bassist, vocalist and lyricist with The Gladiators. In addition to that role, he works as a house musician for Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One and Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Black Ark Studio.

Fearon records many of Perry’s well-known songs, including “Roast Fish and Cornbread”, which features one of his best-known bass lines. He also composes basslines for Yabby You, Jimmy Riley, Max Romeo, Junior Byles and many other artists. His playing is described through bass riffs, guitar licks, percussion accents and vocals, and he is regarded by peers and professionals in reggae as an important musician.

His name is associated with The Gladiators, The Defenders and Boogie Brown Productions.
