City Of Ashes form in 2009, developing from an earlier acoustic duo into a full band. The group’s line-up consists of Orion Powell on vocals, James Macdonald on guitar, Dan Russell on drums and Daniel Frederick on bass.

The band’s music spans hardcore, metal, alternative rock, death metal and post-hardcore, and it combines heavier material with more melodic and intimate elements. Their style is described as difficult to place within a single genre because it moves between heavy and soulful, small-scale and expansive sounds.
