Overview

Formed in 1991, Circle becomes one of the most visible and prolific names in Finland’s avant-rock underground. The group goes through numerous lineup changes, with Lehtisalo as a central figure, credited as founder and described as bassist, vocalist and guitarist. Its work develops through repeated reinvention while keeping a strong sense of repetition at its core.

Style and sound

Circle’s music combines Krautrock-inspired rhythms with heavy riffs, noise, dark psychedelia and soundtrack-like passages. The band is associated with hypnotic, repetitive structures and a cold, driving feel, while also moving across experimental rock and post-rock territory. Its range extends into heavier material as well as more atmospheric and melodic forms.
