Chronicles

Chronicles is a band from Utah, United States, associated with progressive metal, metalcore, metal, psytrance and post-hardcore. The project is built around Mark Gregory and John Heitman.

Background

Mark Gregory is an English singer, guitarist and songwriter from Somerset, England. Before settling in Trondheim, he spends many years in the west of Ireland, where he plays traditional music on the fiddle and performs in several Irish bands. John Heitman is a known figure from the mid-Norwegian music scene and plays in different bands over many years; he is best remembered for his time as the lead singer of Baby-Baby.

Music and collaborators

Chronicles make music that is described as accessible to a wide range of listeners, with songs that combine memorable melodies, lyrics that are closely observed, and a calm but soulful rock atmosphere with touches of melancholy. The project releases an album that is presented as the result of a long period of work and collaboration between Gregory and Heitman.

The recordings also feature contributions from Siri Gjære and Marte Valle on backing vocals, Håkon Gebhart, formerly of Motorpsycho and HGH, on banjo, Sveinung Lillebjerka of Bodø Sinfonitta and Tango Concertino, Finn Guttormsen of Farmers Market on bass, Sola Johnsen of DumDum Boys and Sveinar Hoff, formerly of Cadillac, on drums, Lars Lien on Wurlitzer, and Baard Slagsvold with Øyvind Brandtsegg on string arrangements.
