Chrome Sparks
Chrome Sparks is the project of Jeremy Malvin, a musician and producer from the United States who lives in Brooklyn and has links to Pittsburgh and Ann Arbor. He works with synthesizers, beat music and dance music, and has a background in classical percussion.
Early development
Before studying percussion at the University of Michigan, Malvin buys a pair of Technics 1200 turntables on Craigslist. After starting at university, he tells people he can DJ and learns through repeated house-party sets. In his second year, he starts a weekly house music night at a local club, which later draws artists including Rusko, Avicii, Wolfgang Gartner, Martin Solveig and Laidback Luke. He also becomes a finalist in the Lollapalooza DJ competition under the name Professor Purple.
Drumming and touring
As touring begins to interfere with his percussion studies, he leaves university and tours extensively as the drummer for Stepdad. He also plays tours with Miniature Tigers and Rich Aucoin.
Recordings
Chrome Sparks first attracts attention online at the end of 2010 with the Bandcamp-released single “I’ll Be Wait For Sadness Comes Along”. The following summer, he releases the EP My...
