Christian Smith

Christian Smith is a techno and house producer and DJ from Stockholm and São Paulo. He spends the late 1980s in Germany, where he absorbs the early house and techno sound associated with Sven Väth, and later bases himself in São Paulo and Barcelona.

Style and DJ work

His music combines house and soulful techno with chunky grooves and high energy. As a DJ, he plays on three decks and performs across Asia, North and South America, and Europe. His regular festival appearances include Creamfields in the UK, Dancevalley in Holland, Wire in Japan, and Skol Beats in Brazil. He also plays clubs such as Womb in Tokyo, Loft in Barcelona, Pacha in Buenos Aires, Arches in Glasgow, and Zouk in Singapore.

Releases and labels

Smith releases music on a range of labels including Renaissance, Drumcode, Ovum, Intec, Bedrock, and his own Tronic. His studio work shows a broad fit within techno and house, with releases spanning several major labels in the scene.

Collaborations

He works with John Selway as Smith & Selway, and their full-length album appears on Sino in 2007. He is also linked with the projects Destination and Galactica, and his music receives support from DJs including John Digweed, Carl Cox, and Richie Hawtin.
