Chris Liebing

Chris Liebing is a German DJ, producer and radio host from Giessen, near Frankfurt am Main. Born in 1968, he works in techno, hard techno, minimal techno, schranz, tech house and electronic music.

Early career

He begins DJing with a residency at the Red Brick, a small club in Giessen, in 1991. When that venue closes in early 1995, he starts working for Eye-Q Records in Frankfurt, where he meets Andre Walter. The two build a studio together and begin making music.

In November 1995 he plays at the OMEN in Frankfurt and soon becomes a resident DJ there. Around a year later he sets up Fine Audio Recordings with Under Cover Music Group.

Record labels and releases

Liebing gains wider recognition through releases including Audio 07 and Audio 11. He later creates his own label, CLR. The labels CLR, C.LRetry, CLAU, Stigmata and Soap are distributed by Prime in England. His other labels include Soap Records, Spinclub Recordings and C.L.Retry.

Career development

As his booking schedule grows, he joins the Cocoon Agency in Frankfurt. In 2002 he leaves Cocoon Booking and manages his bookings himself, with CLR also handling them.

Awards

In 2003 he wins the German Dance Award for Best National DJ. The same award category also includes Paul van Dyk, Sven Väth and Westbam among the nominees.

Related projects

His associated acts include E.H.R., Stigmata, Noosa Heads, Traveller, and Andrew Wooden & Chris Liebing.
