Chris Lake

Chris Lake is a British electronic music producer and DJ from Aberdeen, United Kingdom, born in 1982. His work spans bass house, bassline, club, dance, dance-pop and deep house, and his productions also draw on house, electro, progressive house and techno.

Career

He starts producing in 2001 and breaks through in 2005 with One Too Many and Release. Another key track, Changes, brings wider attention, reaches number 27 in the UK charts and is named Radio 1's Essential New Tune twice. His 2007 track Carry Me Away reaches number one on the USA Billboard Dance Chart.

Lake also collaborates with other producers, including Deadmau5 on I Thought Inside Out and Sébastien Léger on Word/Ghost. Both tracks reach the Beatport Top spot. He remixes artists including Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Mark Ronson, Lily Allen, Deadmau5 and the Rogue Traders.

Releases, labels and projects

In 2006 he sets up Rising Music as an outlet for his own productions. The label becomes associated with underground house releases such as One Too Many, Fantasy and Release, and he signs artists including Sébastien Léger, Micky Slim and Deadmau5. He also launches a podcast series, which appears on iTunes' new and notable listings.

Lake's later output includes Only One, taken from his One EP, and If You Knew. He receives support from DJs and radio figures including Sasha, Danny Howells, Justin Robertson, Sander Kleinenberg, Carl Cox and Pete Tong.

DJ work and live appearances

His DJ profile grows through international touring across Asia, South America, the USA, Australia and Africa. He plays major clubs including Ministry Of Sound, Space, Warung, Spybar and Amnesia, and appears at festivals such as Global Gathering, Creamfields and Extrema in the Netherlands. His August 2007 Essential Mix presents techno, electro and tech house and is voted one of the best in the series.
