Chlöe Howl is a British singer-songwriter from Ascot, Maidenhead. Born in 1995 as Chlöe Howells, she grows up in Holyport and is pronounced with a standard “klo-ee” sound.

She develops an interest in music through hip-hop mix CDs and artists including Alicia Keys. She leaves school at 16 and signs to Columbia Records soon afterwards. Her music sits in pop and synthpop, with indie influences noted in her profile.

Releases

Howl releases her first EP, Rumour, for free on SoundCloud in 2013. Over the same year she issues No Strings and Paper Heart. These titles are then brought together in 2014 as Rumour EP.

Recognition

In 2014, Howl is nominated for BBC Sound of 2014 and for the BRIT Award for Critic's Choice.

She works with Eg White on her debut album, and describes her songs as being about being a bored teenager.
