Chimera

Chimera is a Northern Irish indie rock band from Belfast, active from 1990 to 1997. The group revolves around the voice of Eileen Henry and includes Steven Emerson on bass, Willie Vincent on drums and Ted Laverty on guitars.

Releases

The band releases Lughnasa in 1993, with the singles “Ellis Bleeds” and “Cyan Daze” taken from it. It later issues a second album, Earth Loop, which has a lighter sound than Lughnasa and more restrained vocals.

Live work and style

Chimera supports a number of alternative acts, including My Bloody Valentine, Pixies and Throwing Muses. The group is described as sounding somewhere between Cocteau Twins and the Cranberries.
