Chidi

Chidi is a UK singer-songwriter associated with indie soul and UK soul. Raised on a broad range of music, she draws on classic soul and blends it with rock, reggae, pop and jazz. Her work is linked to artists such as Angie Stone, Millie Jackson and Otis Redding.

Early singing and church work

She begins performing at her local church and sings in the church choir for several years. This early experience leads to touring in Europe and to supporting gospel artists including Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin and Winans Phase II as part of a national choir. Through that work she develops confidence as both a lead and backing vocalist.

Live performance and style

Chidi shares stages with James Brown, Prince and Corinne Bailey-Rae before focusing on a solo career. Her singing is described as powerful and expressive, with a velvet-toned voice and an emphasis on communicating songs with intensity.
