Chef'Special
Chef'Special is a Dutch band from Haarlem, Netherlands, active since 2008. The group is usually described as a Dutch indie pop band, with music that also sits across funk rock and pop rock, and it appears with funk, rock, reggae, ska and rap tags. Its line-up includes Joshua Nolet on lead vocals, Guido Joseph on guitar, samples and backing vocals, Jan Derks on bass, percussion and vocals, Wouter Heeren on keys, percussion and backing vocals, and Wouter Prudon on drums and percussion.
The band releases music through Fueled by Ramen. Its recorded work includes the Hungry EP, One for the Mrs., Passing Through and the Shot in the Dark EP. It has also released three EPs and two albums since forming in 2008.
Chef'Special becomes widely known in the Netherlands after serving as house band for the television programme De Wereld Draait Door in 2011. Its debut album One for the Mrs. leads to appearances as a 3FM Serious Talent act and a run of festival shows in the Netherlands, including Lowlands and Noorderslag. The singles Birds, Scribblin' and My Night Off help increase the band’s profile. It also plays sold-out club shows and deluxe performances with Dutch guest artists, and receives 3FM award nominations for Serious Talent, Best Newcomer and Best Live Act. International festival bookings mentioned for the band include Pinkpop and Sziget.
