Chasing Owls
Chasing Owls are a British indie-folk group from the United Kingdom. The band forms in Edinburgh in early 2010 and consists of Ben Sunderland on vocals and guitars, Naomi Black on vocals, keyboards and harmonium, James Moir on vocals and electric bass, and Callum Bateman on drums.
Recordings
The band’s debut EP, We Began, is recorded in Lewes in Sussex over the New Year of 2011. It is released with production and engineering by Dave Lynch and receives general critical acclaim. The four-track EP Quell follows in 2012.
Reception and activity
We Began gains extensive press coverage at regional and national level and receives repeated airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, alongside support from The Scotsman, BBC Radio Scotland, Central FM and Absolute Radio. The band tours widely in the UK and builds a live reputation through festival and showcase appearances.
Festivals and live work
In 2011, Chasing Owls play a busy summer of festivals including Belladrum, NME Weekender and Wickerman, with showcase appearances at GoNorth and Loopallu helping to raise interest in the band’s live set. In 2012, they are involved in Celtic Connections in Glasgow, helping launch the festival with a live BBC session and supporting Admiral Fallow at the O2 ABC Glasgow.
