Chance The Rapper is the stage name of Chancelor Bennett, a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer from Chicago, United States. He works in hip hop and related styles including abstract hip hop, alternative hip hop, conscious hip hop, experimental hip hop and jazz rap.

Career

Chance first draws attention in 2011 with the video for “Nostalgia”, which appears on the Chicago hip-hop blog Fake Shore Drive. He begins to gain wider recognition in 2013 after the release of his first two mixtapes.

His first mixtape, 10 Day, is built around his 10-day suspension from high school. His second mixtape, Acid Rap, appears in April 2013 and receives diamond status from Datpiff.

Coloring Book follows in 2016 and is released for free on Apple Music. In 2019, he releases his debut studio album, The Big Day, which reaches number two on the US Billboard 200, his highest-charting release to date.

Chance is associated with The Social Experiment, SAVEMONEY and Instrumentality. The Social Experiment includes Donnie Trumpet, Peter Cottontail and members of the O'My's, and releases the free album Surf in 2015.
