Cevanne

Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian is a British composer and performer working with voice, harp and dance. She is born in Suffolk, UK, to British-Armenian parents. She trains in composition at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama and later gains a first in music from Girton College, Cambridge University.

She attends the advanced New Music, New Media course at the School in Aldeburgh in 2005 and holds a scholarship at Trinity College of Music in London in 2006 and 2007. At Cambridge, she receives the Rima Alamuddin Composition Prize in 2004, the Turle Scholarship for Music in 2006 and the Gamble Prize for Research in 2006.

In 2007, Sound and Music awards her an Artistic Director’s project for Bhangra Latina. She takes part in the 2006 Orchestra in a Village project, led by the London Mozart Players with Fraser Trainer, which reaches the final of the Philharmonic Society Education Awards. She is nominated by Sound and Music for the British Composer Awards in 2009 and becomes one of the London Symphony Orchestra’s Panufnik composers in 2010.
