Celia
Celia is the stage name of Cristina Ioana Socolan, a Romanian singer and songwriter from Deva, born in 1984. She begins her career in 2005 with the group Elegance, where she works with Isabela “Issa” Casian and releases the studio recording Cine te iubeşte, a dance track issued that same year. This is her only appearance in the group’s discography, and she leaves Elegance in summer 2005.
Solo career
She then creates the project Celia, which becomes her performing name. In November 2007 she releases her debut album, Celia, on Cat Music/Media Service. The album combines dance and house styles and is promoted through four singles: “Pot zbura”, “Trag aer în piept”, “Şoapte” and “O mie de cuvinte”. One of these singles reaches number 1 in Romania.
Later releases
At the end of 2008 she issues “Silence”, a non-album recording that marks a change in her musical style. In summer 2009 she begins promoting “Povestea mea”, which also appears in an English version titled “My Story”. The song is set to appear on her second studio album.
