Cedric Gervais

Cedric Gervais is a French DJ and producer from Marseille, born in 1979. He works in house, electronic and dance music, with later activity also associated with big room house, big room trance, dance-pop, EDM, electro and electro house. He is based in Miami Beach, Florida.

Career

Gervais builds his reputation in club music through residencies and releases in the Miami scene. He becomes a resident DJ at Le Queen Club in Paris, then moves to South Beach in Miami Beach in 1998. He is 15 when he leaves for Miami. In Miami, he holds residencies at Crobar, later known as Cameo, and Nikki Beach, before becoming the DJ for the Club Space Terrace.

His first single, “Burning,” appears on Ultra Records. In 2006, he releases his debut album, The Experiment, which includes “Spirit in My Life” and is also issued on Ultra Records. He follows this with a second album, Miamication, in 2011.

Releases, remixes and charts

Gervais releases “Mauri’s Dream” in 2009, and the track is Pete Tong’s Essential Tune of the Week for three consecutive weeks. In 2012, he releases “Molly,” which gains further attention through its music video. The track is also named Pete Tong’s Essential Tune of the Week, reaches number 26 in the UK charts, tops the Buzz and Cool Cuts charts, and receives daytime play on Radio 1 and Sirius.

In 2013, he produces remixes of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” Willy Moon’s “Yeah Yeah,” Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake,” and Borgore’s “Decisions.” The “Summertime Sadness” remix reaches number one on Beatport for two weeks in February, becomes the most-added track to US radio that summer, enters BBC Radio 1’s A-List, reaches number four in the Official UK Charts, number six in the US Billboard chart, and is certified double platinum in the United States. It also reaches number two on the UK iTunes chart and number 17 on the US iTunes chart.

Collaborations and labels

His production credits include work with Lenny Kravitz, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler and Rachel Star. He also runs labels of his own, Sleaze and Sleaze Industries. Verified label names associated with him also include Delecta Records and Sleaze Industries. Associated members listed for him include 440 Central and Panic Attackers.

Other activity and recognition

Gervais wins a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for the “Summertime Sadness” remix. Michael Bay’s 2013 film Pain & Gain features two of his tracks, including “Molly.” In November 2013, he launches the weekly Miamication radio show on SiriusXM. In February 2014, he partners with Electric Family on a collaboration bracelet, with proceeds donated to Miami Children’s Health.
