Cavern of Anti-Matter is an instrumental electronic group based in Berlin, Germany. It forms in 2012 and remains active.

Formation and line-up

The group starts in winter 2012 to record the LP Blood-Drums for the Berlin label Grautag. It is a trio made up of Tim Gane, Joe Dilworth and Holger Zapf. Gane and Dilworth both previously play in Stereolab, with Gane on guitar and Dilworth as the original drummer. Zapf plays synthesizer.

Style and influences

The band works with electronic and heavily treated sounds rather than conventional rock dynamics. Its music draws on krautrock, psychedelic rock, experimental music and related electronic and rock forms. Among the specific influences noted are David Bowie’s Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family, Mahogany Brain’s Bloody Hide And Seek In The Rain and Hot Milk Elbow, as well as the cover art of Heldon 6.
