Cat's Eyes

Cat's Eyes is the dream pop duo of Faris Badwan, best known as the frontman of The Horrors, and Canadian opera soprano and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira. The project begins in the early 2010s and makes a glassy, symphonic version of sixties girl-group pop.

Background and style

The duo is noted for combining dream pop with a polished, chamber-like sound. Their work sits between indie rock and alternative pop, with a strong emphasis on vocal harmony and arrangement. They also gain attention for performing in unusual settings.

Performances and releases

Their first performance takes place at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican during an afternoon mass attended by seven high-ranking cardinals. Their self-titled debut album appears in 2011. After that, they release the soundtrack for Peter Strickland's film The Duke of Burgundy in 2015, followed by Treasure House in 2016.

There is also a separate psychedelic rock band called Cats Eyes, active from 1968 to 1970, which is distinct from this duo.
