Cashmere Cat
Cashmere Cat is the stage name of Magnus August Høiberg, a Norwegian musician, producer and DJ from Halden, Norway. Born in 1987, he works in electronic music, with his sound also described in terms of alternative R&B, EDM, future bass, chillwave, trap, hip-hop and wonky.
Career
He appears on the international electronic dance music scene in 2012, first attracting attention through remixes and edits of tracks by Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz and Jeremih. He also represents Norway in the DMC World DJ Championships under the name DJ FINAL, competing from 2006 to 2009.
His debut EP, Mirror Maru, is released on the Belgian label Pelican Fly in October 2012. Around the same period, his edit of 2 Chainz’s “No Lie” is named by VIBE as the number one entry in a 2012 list of “25 Awesome Genre-Benders”.
His approach combines R&B, futuristic hip-hop and bass music, and it draws support from producers including Hudson Mohawke and Rustie. In January 2013, Benny Blanco invites him to Los Angeles to work on studio productions for artists including Maroon 5 and Jeremih, and for his first US concerts as Cashmere Cat.
