Carvin Jones

Carvin Jones is a blues and blues rock guitarist from Lufkin, Texas, and performs with the Carvin Jones Band. He develops an early interest in the blues through records by B.B. King that his grandfather plays at home. At the age of 11, his grandmother buys him his first guitar, after he has been borrowing other people’s instruments. He later says that playing guitar helps keep him out of trouble in a rough neighbourhood where he sees serious violence.

After high school, Jones plays small gigs around Texas for several years before moving to Arizona for a change of pace. In 1989, he moves in with his aunt and uncle, the Rev. Henry Adams and Mattie, in south Phoenix. He says they take him in and play an important role in his career.
