Carpenter Brut

Carpenter Brut is the stage name of Franck Hueso, a synthwave and electronic music artist from Poitiers in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. He keeps his personal identity largely out of view, treating anonymity as a deliberate artistic choice so that attention stays on the music rather than the performer.

Music and releases

He begins recording under the Carpenter Brut name with the aim of combining elements drawn from horror film soundtracks, metal, rock and electronic music. His first three EPs are later collected and issued together as Trilogy in 2015. In 2018 he releases Leather Teeth, which is presented as the first part of a planned new trilogy. He also contributes original music to a range of soundtracks.

Live work and collaborations

Carpenter Brut tours in the United States and Europe. In 2016 he tours the US with the Swedish heavy metal band Ghost. For live performances he appears with guitarist Adrien Grousset and drummer Florent Marcadet, both of whom are members of the French metal band Hacride. Tobias Forge of Ghost states that Carpenter Brut has also produced some albums by the French black metal band Deathspell Omega, who are likewise from Poitiers.
