Caroline Herring
Caroline Herring is a folk singer-songwriter from Canton, United States, who is based in Atlanta. Born in 1969, she begins her career in Austin, Texas, and later relocates to Atlanta.
Her early releases include Twilight in 2001 and Wellspring in 2003, both issued during her time in Austin. She wins the Best New Artist award in 2002 from both the Austin American-Statesman and the Austin Chronicle.
After moving to Atlanta, she receives the 2008 Best Singer/songwriter award from Atlanta’s Creative Loafing. In the same period, she releases Lantana on Signature Sounds. That album is a thematic collection built around the lives of different women, largely from the American South.
She also releases Golden Apples of the Sun, which is described as a more personal and representative record and as a departure from her earlier work. Herring identifies herself as a storytelling folksinger, and her work sits within folk and related country and Americana traditions.
