Carnaby Street
Carnaby Street is a group from New Jersey, United States, active since 1972. It plays rock, pop rock and heartland rock, and is associated with the repertory of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Style and repertory
The group’s set list covers more than 70 songs and is built around interpretations of Beatles and Stones material. Its stated aim is to reproduce the sound of the original recordings closely while adding a personal touch. The live repertory includes songs that the original artists did not always perform on stage, including “A Day in the Life”, “All You Need Is Love”, “I Am the Walrus”, “Hey Bulldog”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Got to Get You Into My Life” and “Lady Madonna”.
Recording and performance
Carnaby Street records a first CD in 2003, made up entirely of Beatles songs and available to order. The group has a local following in Nice, and its performances are described as drawing on the detail and fidelity of its playing.
