Carlo Rovelli

Carlo Rovelli is an author and theoretical physicist from Verona, Italy, born in 1956. He is a US citizen and lives in France. His main field is theoretical physics, and he is known as one of the founders of loop quantum gravity.

Rovelli also works on the history and philosophy of science. He writes books for specialist and general readers, including Quantum Gravity, a treatise on loop quantum gravity, and The First Scientist: Anaximander and his Legacy, which focuses on the nature of science. The First Scientist is translated into five languages and receives the Prix du Livre Haute Maurienne.

He works at universities in Italy, the United States and France. He heads the quantum gravity group at the Center For Theoretical Physics of Aix-Marseille University. He is also an Honorary Professor at the Normal University of Beijing and a member of the International Academy for the Philosophy of Science.
