Carla dal Forno
Carla dal Forno is an Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in London, with origin in Melbourne and Berlin. Her work sits in the overlap between post-punk, industrial, narcotic dub and dream pop, and is also associated with darkwave, experimental music, lo-fi, minimal wave and ambient sounds.
Career
She is a member of F ingers and Tarcar, and she also plays in Mole House. As a solo artist, she makes atmospheric songs that are noted for their emotional ambiguity, careful detail and balanced arrangements. Her productions use greyscale synth textures, pulsing drum machines, stripped-back guitar lines and deep bass parts, while her voice sits above the music in a detached, high register.
Releases
Her debut album You Know What It’s Like appears in 2016, and her follow-up EP The Garden appears in 2017. Both are released on Blackest Ever Black and help establish her profile as a distinctive artist working in a restrained, shadowy style.
Live performance
On stage, she performs as a duo with multi-instrumentalist Mark Smith.
