Capulet

Capulet is a name used by two different bands. One is a post-hardcore and alternative rock group from Adelaide, Australia. The other is a post-rock band formed in 2004.

Adelaide post-hardcore band

The Adelaide line-up begins with a 2009 recording of the EP We Won't Let Go. The group is a quintet and features Tim Bartel on vocals, Tom Hamilton and Ryan Mitchell on guitars, Josh Hext on bass and Ben Ortmann on drums. It records at Electric Sun Studios with producer Dave Petrovic, whose work includes The Mission In Motion and House vs. Hurricane. The band is described as energetic and charismatic, with a live show built around strong vocals, guitars and rhythm. It later changes its name to Just Like Clockwork before returning to Capulet.

Post-rock band

The post-rock Capulet forms in 2004 after the split of two other bands, Lets Not Lose Mars To The Commies and Rebekah. The early line-up consists of Steve Hodson, Adam Crosby, Adam Hartley and Gareth Canny. Their music develops from more straightforward verse-chorus structures into longer, more ambitious forms, with minimal passages, sudden shifts in timing and atmosphere, playful melodies, unpredictable song structures and occasional vocals.

The band self-releases the EPs Say What You See and No Time Spoke The Clocks before issuing the Motive Sounds LP The World Is A Tragic Place, But There Is Grace All Around Us, So Attend To The Grace. It also plays support slots with Biffy Clyro, Mono, Youthmovies and Jeniferever, receives radio play on Huw Stevens’ Radio One show, and is mentioned in a Lamaq feature on the city. The group appears on the Seeka mixtape.
