Cancer

Cancer is a UK death metal band from Ironbridge, formed in 1988 by Carl Stokes, John Walker and Ian Buchanan. The group is active from 1988 to the present and its line-up includes Ian Buchanan, Carl Stokes, John Walker and Robert Navajas. Its music is classified as death metal and thrash metal.

Early history

The band forms one night in 1988 at the Tontine pub in Ironbridge. It records a demo at Pits Studio under the title No Fuckin Cover Demo, sends it out and then signs to Vinyl Solution. After that, it begins playing live and writing material.

Live activity and scene

Cancer appears alongside bands including Bomb Disneyland, Bolt Thrower, Cerebral Fix and GBH during its early live activity. This places it within the UK metal and punk-related circuit of the period.
