Call of Charon
Call of Charon is a deathcore and metalcore group from Duisburg, Germany. The band forms in 2006, after guitarist Philipp Kaase and bassist Jan Wiesten begin working together in the project The Glasshouse Therapy in 2005. Vocalist Patrick Kluge, previously involved with Bleeding Heaven, Hopelezz as a live member, and Dypressive, joins the line-up, and the group later goes through changes in members, artistic direction and genre focus before taking the name Call of Charon.
The name refers to Charon, the ferryman from Greek and Roman mythology, chosen for the figure’s association with death, judgement and relentlessness. The band then develops a new setlist and begins recording its first EP, Shot.Dead.Drowing, in autumn 2007. After completing the EP, it plays its first shows in clubs and youth centres near its home area.
In spring 2008, Call of Charon starts the Dates in Desperation tour, performing ten shows across Nordrhein-Westfalen. Former Dypressive member Moritz Güdde joins the band for that period.
