Caitlin Rose is a singer and songwriter from Dallas, United States, working in country music. She begins writing songs in her teens, first drawing on punk before moving towards the country tradition associated with Nashville. Her recordings are issued on ATO Records.

Early writing and style

She starts writing songs at 16. Her work is often associated with country, and her lyrics and voice are compared with Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and Iris DeMent.

Releases

Her debut EP, Dead Flowers EP, appears in 2008 and includes a cover of the Rolling Stones title track. Her first album, Own Side Now, is first released in the UK in 2010, then in the United States in 2011. It is supported by singles and extensive touring. In 2012 she records two Arctic Monkeys songs for a Record Store Day 7-inch single. Her second album, The Stand-In, follows in 2013.

Recording and labels

Own Side Now is issued in the UK by Names Records and in the US by Theory8 Records. Her later releases are associated with ATO Records. Another album titled Look Me Over belongs to a different artist with the same name.
