Caddy Cooper
Caddy Cooper is a singer-songwriter from Detroit, United States, active as a solo artist from 1975 to the present. She is associated with classic rock, garage rock, glam metal, glam rock, hard rock and heavy metal, and releases music on Ezra Music Corp. She is also connected with Alice Cooper and Hollywood Vampires.
Background and musicianship
Cooper is described as an acoustic singer-songwriter who plays several instruments and has an interest in a wide range of musical styles. She learns guitar at nine and begins writing songs at eleven. She is born in 1948.
Training and stage work
She trains at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in music theatre and appears in featured roles in The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof and A Chorus Line. After moving to London, she shifts her main focus to songwriting.
Songwriting credits and recognition
Cooper reaches the London area final of Live and Unsigned in 2011 with her original song “Better Place Now”. She writes “Fever Fever Fever”, the first single by Australian pop act Envy Burlesque, and receives an Honorable Mention in the International Songwriter of the Year Competition for the urban composition “Tender Heart (Teenage Girl)”.
Other projects
She is commissioned to write a series of children’s song books that use Makaton sign language, with the aim of supporting language development and bringing mainstream and special schools closer together. She is also writing her first album.
