Bush Chemists

Bush Chemists are a dub and reggae project made up of Dougie “Conscious” Wardrop and Chazbo. Dougie Wardrop begins making tunes with Centry in the late 1980s, a period that leads to the creation of his Conscious Sounds label and studio. After Centry disbands, he sets up his own studio and works under several related names, including Bush Chemists with Chazbo, East Meets West with a Japanese collaborator, Hydroponics, and The Dub Specialists with Love Grocer. He also serves as the main mixing engineer for Jah Warrior.

The duo produces albums for Kenny Knots, Culture Freeman and King General. Kenny Knots and Culture Freeman often appear with them in live performances. For ten years, all Conscious Sounds albums are issued by the dub label Dubhead, and later releases come through the Conscious Sounds imprint, alongside the album Raw Raw Dub on ROIR.
