Burning Black

Burning Black is an Italian heavy metal group formed in 2004 in northern Italy by Giovanni Moretto on guitar and Massimo De Nardi on vocals. The band plays a classic, straight heavy metal style built around an eighties-influenced sound, with references to NWOBHM, the modern German metal scene, and American and European hard rock.

History

After forming, Burning Black records the promo releases Smell the Fire in 2005 and Fight to Dream in 2006. Both recordings receive strong reviews from the mainstream and underground press in Italy and elsewhere in Europe. The line-up later includes Alessandro Jacobi on bass, Marco Maffeis on guitar, and Luca Scomparin on drums.

The band tours with a number of Italian and European heavy metal acts before having a full-length album to its name, including Primal Fear, UDO, White Skull, Fire Trails, Bonfire, Soul Doctor, Pink Cream 69 and Rage. It continues without label or promoter support during this period.

Prisoners of Steel

Between July and August 2007, Burning Black records its first full-length album, Prisoners of Steel, at Remaster Studios in Vicenza. Tony Fontò of White Skull and Nick Savio of Hollow Haze produce the album, and Savio also appears as a guest musician. The record reflects the band’s development since its formation while keeping its focus on direct, uncompromising heavy metal.
