BUNT.

BUNT. is a German dance and house project from Germany, associated with folk-influenced electronic pop. The act is led by Levent Gültekin and is also linked to Levi Wijk, with the project originally involving Nicolas Crispin. It begins as a duo in the mid-2010s, with the two high school friends starting to make music together at 16.

Sound and early releases

Early BUNT. tracks combine festival-style house with folk instrumentation, using elements such as banjos, harmonicas and saxophone. The project’s early sound draws on the energy of Swedish House Mafia and is also compared to Avicii on tracks such as “Journey” and “Harmonica” from 2014. Later releases continue in that direction, including “Old Guitar” and “Coming Home” in 2016, which blend EDM with a sound closer to indie-folk acts such as Of Monsters and Men and Mumford & Sons. “Young Hearts” adds saxophone, while “On My Way” and “Little Secrets” bring in Celtic music tones.

Career development

By the end of the 2010s, BUNT. has built a catalogue of nearly a dozen tracks and signs to Geffen, making its label debut with “Oh My Other” in 2019. The project then moves to Interscope and releases a run of singles in 2020, including “Crocodile Tears,” a tribute to Avicii featuring Jens Hult, “Unbreakable” with Clarence Coffee, Jr., and “Nights Like That” with Georgia Ku. In 2021, releases include “Out of Time” with Diviners and Tom Bailey, and “Hurricane” featuring Hon and SMBDY.

Line-up

Nicolas Crispin leaves the project in May 2021, after which BUNT. continues as a solo project under the same name. The act is associated with BUNT. Music and remains linked to a German origin and a house, dance and folk-leaning sound.
