Bruce Foxton

Bruce Foxton is an English singer, songwriter and musician from Woking, United Kingdom. Born in 1955, he is best known for his work in rock and for his long career in British popular music.

The Jam and early success

Foxton comes to prominence in the late 1970s as the bassist and backing vocalist of the mod revival band The Jam. He sometimes sings lead vocals as well, including on “Carnaby Street,” “News of the World,” “David Watts” and “Smithers-Jones.” His music career spans more than four decades.

Solo work

After The Jam break up, Foxton pursues a short solo career. He releases one studio album, Touch Sensitive, in 1984. Its single “Freak” becomes a UK Top 20 hit in 1983.

Foxton is associated with Stiff Little Fingers, The Casbah Club, From the Jam and Sharp, in addition to The Jam.
