Brooke Sharkey
Brooke Sharkey is a London-based singer-songwriter who is raised between France and England. She begins performing after her father, a musician, suggests that she busk the first songs she writes when she is 16. Her music sits in folk, with chanson, blues and Latin influences, and she is also associated with Gypsy-influenced material.
Recording and releases
Sharkey releases two EPs and her debut album, One Dress, which is recorded at Livingston Studios in London. She later releases the EP I Crossed the Line.
Live work and band
She tours in the UK, France and Italy with her backing band. Her band includes Adam Beattie on electric guitar and backing vocals, Jez Houghton on French horn, and Sam Pert on drums. Beattie is also a singer-songwriter in his own right and often shares bills with Sharkey.
Style and performance
Sharkey is described as having an intense, expressive style, with narrative songs set against a spacious musical backdrop.
