Bronzehead

Bronzehead is a 10-piece group from London, formed in 2010. The band makes original music inspired by the heavy funk rhythms of 1970s West Africa, drawing on Afrobeat, Afrofunk and Highlife.

The group’s sound reflects the way bands in countries including Nigeria, Ghana and Benin combine traditional African rhythms with funk and soul. Bronzehead aims to create similarly dance-focused music, with an approach shaped by the members’ varied backgrounds.

The band members bring experience from rock, reggae, hip hop, jazz, ska and electronic music. Their interpretation of Afrobeat is presented as rooted in their cultural backgrounds and in everyday life in London.
