Broken Bells

Broken Bells is an indie rock duo from Los Angeles, formed in 2009 and active since then. The group consists of James Mercer and Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton. Their work is generally placed across indie pop, indie rock and indietronica.

Members and background

James Mercer is also a member of The Shins, while Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton is also part of Gnarls Barkley and Dangerdoom. Burton is known as a producer for Beck, Gorillaz, The Rapture and The Black Keys, among others. Mercer handles vocals and guitar, and Burton contributes multiple instruments and production.

Releases

Broken Bells release their debut self-titled album on Columbia Records in 2010. Their first single from that record is “The High Road”. The duo then issue the EP Meyrin Fields in 2011, followed by their second album After the Disco in 2014 and their third album Into the Blue in 2022.

The duo also appear in an interview on NPR’s All Things Considered in 2010.
