Brix Smith

Brix Smith, also known as Laura Elisse Salenger, is a singer and guitarist from Los Angeles. Born in 1962, she is best known for her work with The Fall, where she helps bring a pop influence to the band, and for leading The Adult Net. She also releases two solo albums.

With The Fall

Smith marries Fall vocalist Mark E. Smith in 1983 and remains linked with the group through a run of releases that includes Perverted by Language in 1983 and Seminal Live in 1989. She later rejoins The Fall for Cerebral Caustic in 1995 and The Light User Syndrome in 1996.

Other work and projects

After her separation from Mark E. Smith, she has a relationship with violinist Nigel Kennedy and later marries Philip Start. She co-owns the Start clothes shop with him. Smith is also noted for her interest in model train sets and caterpillars. In late 2014, she forms Brix and the Extricated with former Fall members Steve Hanley, Paul Hanley and Steven Trafford.
